Interiors and gardens, rooted in East African craft.
A studio built on a simple idea: design should feel like it belongs here.
MAC SPACE STUDIO was founded in Kampala with a clear intention — to move beyond imported catalogues and build an interior design language drawn from East Africa's own materials, artisans and climate. Since our first residential project, we've grown into a full-service interiors and landscape studio, working on homes, offices, restaurants and boutique hotels across Uganda.
Today, as we open studios in Nairobi and Kigali, our work still starts the same way: with the makers, farmers and craftspeople who supply the mvule timber, papyrus weave, bark cloth, terrazzo and clay that make our interiors distinct. We believe good design is regional — and that East Africa's design identity deserves to be written by the people who live in it.

Local Craft
We design around what our region already makes well — timber, textile, clay and stone — rather than importing a foreign aesthetic.
Sustainability
Every garden and interior is assessed for water use, material sourcing and long-term maintenance before a single sketch is made.
Upskilling
We run a standing internship programme, training the next generation of East African designers, makers and landscapers.
Pan-African Vision
What starts in Kampala is built to travel — our studio is expanding deliberately across Nairobi, Kigali and Dar es Salaam.
